Preston Harper's Midwest Migration

Most skateboard migrations are made from somewhere near the middle of the country towards one of the coasts. Skateboarders don’t often move to the dead center of the U.S.A. from one of the edges. Preston Harper was living in Arizona with the convenience of more local skateparks than you can shake a stick at, not to mention a five-hour drive to the beaches of southern California. Nevertheless, he moved to St. Louis, Missouri in the dead of a sticky sweaty summer, and he isn’t one bit bummed about that decision. Apparently St. Louis is a diamond in the rough. There are ton of spots everywhere you look. They are, however, literally and figuratively up Preston’s alley.

There is something cool about the Midwest in the summer when you’re a skateboarder coming from the west. Maybe it’s because everyone has been cooped up inside while it rained and snowed for six months, so the time they do have on their boards is greeted with a lot of energy and passion. Or it could just be that St. Louis is a rad city with a lifestyle that is perfect for anyone who wants to ride a skateboard.
